“Then Jesus said to them, ‘Do not be afraid’ ” (Matthew 28:10a RSV).
Jesus’s first words after His resurrection to his disciples are that of calm and strength. “Do not be afraid,” He commands them, as He commands us. But how often is fear the driving factor in life? It is fear that drives many mothers and fathers to contemplate abortion. It is fear that keeps many of us from acting to stand up for life on the sidewalks, in our churches, in our schools, and even in our homes.
But Christ came to conquer fear and bring HOPE and LIFE to all who are in darkness. We don’t have to live in fear anymore because He is with us to strengthen us.
