Action Alert: Juneau County Pro-Lifers Urged to Attend Board Meeting Tuesday 2/17 in Opposition to Juneau County Resolution No. 26-12
The Juneau County Board is considering Resolution: No. 26-12, on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 9:30am. The meeting is to consider approving the purchase of a public health vending machine for Necedah. To our dismay, there is already one in Elroy and in Mauston near a playground. The vending machine is free. Access to the vending machine is unrestricted. Minor children capable of pushing buttons can access condoms packaged with Health First’s advertising. The vending machine for the Necedah area is slated to be placed at the Necedah Family Health Center property, near the Main Street walking path that students use frequently on their way to school. Click to see the video of one of these vending machines here. See pictures below.
The following are our concerns about these vending machines:
Why are taxpayers providing support for and distribution of free condoms, especially to minors?
Why are there no age restrictions or adult supervision?
Why are minors the main demographic in this project?
Why is there no accompanying information on the dangers of promiscuous sexual behavior? STD’s or STI’s?
The idea that condoms make sex safe is a myth. Contraception is not designed for disease protection. It is designed to prevent the fertilization of the egg. Contraception literally means: “against conception”. To sell contraception as disease prevention is harmful to our youth.
To provide free condoms and recommend contraceptives for disease prevention is reckless and irresponsible. Note that the packaging on condoms does not make a claim to prevent disease.
Teen births are at an all-time low* while teen sexually transmitted diseases (STD’s) are at near-all time highs.
What are the legal ramifications of providing condoms to minors?
What are the legal ramifications of enabling statutory rape (i.e., sex between two minors, sex between a minor and an adult, etc.)?
ACT NOW!
There are two ways you can help prevent the approval of the purchase of this machine.
One is to call your Juneau County supervisors and ask them to “Vote No” on the Free Condom Vending Machine for Children. The other is to attend the board meeting on Tuesday, February 17, at 9:30am (arrive by 8:55am, details below).
