Green Bay Pro-Lifers Attacked by Abortion-Bound Woman

GREEN BAY PRO-LIFERS ATTACKED BY ABORTION-BOUND WOMAN

By Dan Miller, Pro-Life Wisconsin State Director

It was a warm, sunny Tuesday afternoon in Milwaukee.  Our newly formed Pro-Life Green Bay affiliate who had already been through our Sidewalk Counseling 101 and 201 classes, was present on the sidewalks outside one of Milwaukee’s abortion centers.

I was traveling into the city to meet them, but traffic on I-94 eastbound was bottlenecked because of an accident, so what would have normally taken me twenty minutes to drive took fifty minutes.  One of the best sidewalk counselors we have, September, was already on the sidewalks and had reported a save at 3:07 p.m. while I was staring at brake lights on the freeway. Shortly after our Green Bay affiliate arrived, conflict ensued on the sidewalks. As Ann, one of the pro-lifers from Green Bay offered pro-life literature to an abortion-bound woman headed into the center, the woman turned and smacked Ann. Immediately, Tallulah, a fellow Green Bay pro-lifer yelled out to the attacker, “Hey!  You can’t do that!  Stop that!”  The abortion-bound woman then turned her attention to Tallulah in the distance and read her shirt which read, “I REGRET MY ABORTION.” It took her a moment to process the words, but when she did, she ran the distance, grabbed Tallulah’s shirt, and tried to swing her to the ground, but Tallulah broke free.  This is almost textbook unhealed post-abortive behavior.

By the time I had arrived, the woman who assaulted Ann and Tallulah had already left the abortion center.  There really wasn’t anything we could do at that moment, so we let it go.  I said to our friends from Green Bay, “Welcome to Milwaukee!”  They couldn’t be deterred.  They laughed a bit and I said, “Thanks for taking one for the babies!”  Brave women!  Thankfully, the woman who hit Ann in the face didn’t connect, so Ann didn’t need ice and sustained an abrasion only.

We kept on slogging it out that hot afternoon for a total of five hours.  God smiled on our work again at 5:54 p.m. and 6:43 p.m.

Sadly, the save that occurred at 6:43 p.m. came back later in the week to go through with the abortion.  It is always a real threat.  The pressure to abort in today’s society is immense.  The teenager (I’m guessing 13 years old) who chose life on Tuesday at 6:43 p.m. turned around in less than 48 hours, caving to the family pressure.  On Tuesday, I remember one of the family members saying, “Babies shouldn’t be having babies” as they struggled to make a decision.  When I asked the young mom if this was her first pregnancy, there was complete silence.  Then I saw her holding a baby in her lap.  I thought at first that the baby was her mom’s baby.  Not so.  The baby was hers.  The family was trying to teach her a lesson, it seems, by pressuring her to have the abortion.  I can’t even imagine the pain and division this abortion will cause over the long term in this family.  And to think, if abortion was illegal, this would not even have been a consideration.

Please “press pause” on what you are doing right now and pray for all those who are caving to the pressure to abort at this moment.  Pray boldly that God gives them the courage when they need it most to turn away from abortion.

And please pray for all our hard-working affiliates.  They keep the lamps burning brightly at the local level, ready for anything at a moment’s notice.

Thank you to our Pro-Life Green Bay affiliate. This group is simply on fire for Christ. I am so moved at their dedication to not only do things in their community to end abortion but also to “go where the fire is” – at the abortion centers, over a two-hour drive away. When their kids and grandkids ask them what they did to end abortion, they’ll have some stories to tell!
