48 babies were saved from abortion during this 40 Days for Life campaign! Thank You, Lord!
48 saves are the most we’ve ever seen in the entire history of the Milwaukee 40 Days for Life campaign since it started in 2008. The previous record of most babies saved was in the fall of 2013 with 41 babies saved. I know many of you were there BOTH times the record was broke, but it took a lot of work and perseverance in-between to get to where we are today. Showing up every day is how we got here, so let’s keep that going!
We’d like to thank all our prayer warriors, sidewalk counselors, and clergy who came out, day after day, to stand in the gap for the preborn. A special note of thanks to September Schubilske, the Milwaukee campaign’s coordinator and Therese Aukofer, Program Director at PLW who served as co-coordinator. Thank you both for your hard work and dedication!
I remember one time, way back in the Spring 2013 campaign, I asked a friend when he thought the abortion center would close for good. He said, “No one knows, but God does. All I know is that with each passing day, we are closer to seeing this place close down for good.” We are still waiting. Lord, hear our prayer!
The work that we do is so moving and joy filled. It is such a blessing to take part in the history of the undoing of Roe v. Wade. I was there on the sidewalks for at least a dozen of the babies saved from abortion. Each time, it is a completely new experience. To watch a young mom reject abortion right in front of your eyes is really something to behold. One time a young mom asked one of the other sidewalk counselors, September, if she could hug her. September said, “Yeah, of course!” This young mom was so relieved that she had taken the right course of action for her baby’s life – and hers too! She hugged September so hard and just didn’t want to let go. She was sobbing in relief that she had chosen life. Fear was not going to dictate her life anymore.
With another young mom we were able to explain to her what an abortion did to her child. We didn’t show her pictures. We really didn’t have to. Whatever goes through their imagination after you describe how the baby is de-limbed and then the head is crushed and taken out in pieces, a picture just isn’t needed. She chose life and credited our explanation of the abortion procedure as the reason she chose life. She said, “I’m not doing that to my child. NO! Nuh-uh!”
