5 Ways the Men of Christ Conference Equips Pro-Life Men

By Matt Von Rueden

This year, Men of Christ (MOC) is teaming up with Pro-Life Wisconsin to offer you a 10% discount on conference tickets, just enter Promo Code “PLW” at MenofChrist.net.  I’d like to share a few areas that I think you’ll grow into a better pro-life advocate, if you take advantage of this opportunity.

In my own pride, I’ve been tempted to think “I know my faith and already live it out in many ways.  I don’t need the MOCconference.  It’s for those guys who are doing the bare minimum or don’t really know their faith.”  After my first conference, I realized how totally wrong I was.  Here’s a list of the top 5 ways I’ve noticed that MOC makes us better pro-life advocates:

1.) Knowledge – On the most basic level, MOC helps you know your faith.  The old adage, “You can’t share what you don’t have.” is so true.  I suppose that’s how it gets to be an old adage!  Knowledge and awareness of oneself, one’s family, one’s community is powerful and helps guide us as men toward God’s will in our lives.  Knowledge can help save lives and save souls.

2.) Spiritual Recharge – Pro-life activism is spiritually draining, and we need opportunities like MOC to reenergize our spiritual life.  Mockery or suffering persecution for spreading the pro-life message is par for the course.  We need to be spiritually fed to endure these sufferings with charity.

3.) Fraternity – MOC provides a community of Christian men who inspire one another, challenge one another and grow together in the common goal of serving our Lord!  Coming together with 3,000 – 4,000 Christian men is a powerful way to build true friendships of mutual support.

4.) Truth – Sharing the truth about human life and dignity is central to the pro-life movement.  MOC equips men with the light of truth and offers effective ways of evangelizing others.  As pro-life men, we need to constantly be reflecting on how to best share the truth of the Gospel with those who need to hear it most – that couple and unborn child walking into an abortion facility.

5.) Courage – As G.K. Chesterton observed, “Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of a readiness to die.”  MOC builds the virtue of courage within men simply by challenging us to become better imitators, of Christ who died for our sins.  To be courageous in the pro-life movement means being willing to put everything on the line to advocate for our preborn brothers and sisters.

How will MOC make you a better pro-life advocate?  Come and see!  Register at MenofChrist.net and be sure to enter Promo Code: PLW to receive 10% off your ticket(s).
