STATE ASSEMBLY TO PROCLAIM JANUARY 22ND AS "PROTECT LIFE DAY"

The Wisconsin State Assembly will be voting Tuesday, January 21st on Assembly Joint Resolution (AJR) 118, legislation proclaiming January 22nd, the infamous anniversary of the Roe v. Wade U.S. Supreme Court ruling that gave our country abortion on demand, as “Protect Life Day.” The resolution recognizes the more than 60 million preborn children killed by abortion nationally and the more than 570,000 preborn children killed by abortion in Wisconsin since 1973. 

After 47 years of legal abortion in America, AJR 118 laments that “countless mothers, fathers, families, and society as a whole have suffered devastating consequences from this wholesale destruction of human life…”

Relating to: proclaiming January 22nd as “Protect Life Day”.

Whereas, 47 years have elapsed since the infamous January 22, 1973, U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion for any reason for the full nine months of pregnancy in all of the United States; and

Whereas, it is the first and primary duty of the government to protect its citizens, a role which the Court usurped from the states; and

Whereas, more than 60 million unborn children have been killed by abortions nationally, a human rights abuse unprecedented in American history; and

Whereas, more than 570,000 of Wisconsin's unborn children are lost to Wisconsin families, and their skills and talents are lost to the state of Wisconsin; and

Whereas, countless mothers, fathers, families, and society as a whole have suffered devastating consequences from this wholesale destruction of human life; and

Whereas, the future of our state and country depends on protection of the weakest members of the human family; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the Wisconsin Legislature hereby proclaims January 22nd as “Protect Life Day” throughout the state of Wisconsin and commends this observance to all of our citizens.

Pro-Life Wisconsin thanks resolution authors Representative Janel Brandtjen (R-Menomonee Falls) and Senator André Jacque (R- De Pere), and the all the legislators who co-sponsored AJR 118, for being true witnesses to the sanctity and inviolability of human life.
