PRO-LIFE WISCONSIN CELEBRATES U.S. SUPREME COURT DECISION ON MEDINA V. PLANNED PARENTHOOD SOUTH ATLANTIC

For Immediate Release: June 26, 2025

(Brookfield, WI) – Pro-Life Wisconsin celebrates the U.S. Supreme Court decision in the case of Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic acknowledging the right of states to defund Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers of Medicaid dollars. Pro-Life Wisconsin State Director Dan Miller offers his comments on this historic decision:

This decision (Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic) is a massive victory for the Pro-Life Movement. Redirecting Medicaid dollars away from abortion providers does not mean that low-income Americans are left without the care they need. On the contrary, it allows these dollars to go to where they will make a real impact; to the Federally Qualified Health Centers and Pregnancy Resource Centers (PRCs) that are serving women and families in crisis pregnancy situations. The key difference here is that these centers provide much-needed services like STI testing and pregnancy support but do not take the lives of preborn children as a part of their business models. Moreover, we are heartened that these funds can go to centers like PRCs that do not promote contraception. Contraception and abortion are intricately linked, as the Pill can kill preborn babies by chemically altering the lining of the uterus so that implantation does not occur (pre-implantation chemical abortion). Here, too, if and when contraception fails, many turn to chemical or surgical abortion.

The Medina decision is one more step towards a future in which all Americans, born and preborn, enjoy the right to life. It is our hope and our duty to see that day arrive.
