Many have asked me over the years what’s the “secret sauce” to saving babies at abortion centers. My number one answer is almost always, “showing up.” It is possible to save babies online, over the phone, text messaging, video conference, but in my opinion, nothing surpasses the personal interaction of a one-on-one conversation with an abortion-oriented mom at an abortion center. Of course, we know the mom is serious about the abortion because SHE is there. Conversely, she knows we are serious about saving her baby because WE are there. Our presence speaks VOLUMES.
Here's a real story about a baby saved in January at Planned Parenthood in Milwaukee.
The United States Supreme Court is on the precipice of overturning its most egregious ruling: Roe v. Wade. After 49 years and over sixty million slain, it is far past time Roe be tossed upon the ash heap of history. If the Supreme Court overturns Roe and Casey and sends the abortion issue back to the states, it is critical that we be prepared to protect every preborn child in Wisconsin from the moment of conception. This will require two, and possibly three, state legislative actions.
Early Sunday morning, Pro-Life Wisconsin received news that the office of our ally, Wisconsin Family Action, had been attacked. The perpetrators set fire to the office, threw Molotov cocktails into the space, and wrote graffiti on the exterior which read, “If abortions aren’t safe then you aren’t either.”
Under the guise of COVID relief dollars, Governor Tony Evers has awarded over $1.4 million to Wisconsin’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood. To date, only $5.4 million of the available $10 million has been distributed, and 25% of that has gone directly to Wisconsin’s many Planned Parenthood locations.
In a continuing effort to end taxpayer funding of abortion in Wisconsin, State Representative Janel Brandtjen (R-Menomonee Falls) has introduced legislation, Assembly Bill (AB) 528, that would remove abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, from the state Medical Assistance (MA) program.
At around 3:00 p.m. when the next car presented itself across the street at the gas station, we went to meet them, and I split off to talk to the male driver. He accepted the literature I offered, and I told him about the free help at the pregnancy resource center nearby. He replied, “I don’t have time to watch two kids.”
She said, “I’ve seen an abortion before. It’s just a mass of tissue.” It didn’t hit me at that time, but I came to realize she was talking about her own abortion. This is what happens when women and men don’t heal from their abortion. Misery wants company. This woman needs healing and prayer. Thank you in advance for praying for this woman. She was lied to about her baby. Now she has heard the truth. The rest is up to God.
“This may sound crazy, but this little hat reminded me of when I was here nine years ago for an abortion. A woman on the sidewalk gave me a knit baby hat just like this one. I decided to not have the abortion because of that woman’s kindness and the little gift she gave me. This is too much of a coincidence. You guys saved my baby back then. He is now nine years old and here you are again! This is the sign I was looking for. I can’t have the abortion now. No way.”
Ask any pro-lifer about The Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrance (FACE) Act and you will get myriad responses—from an eye roll, or fear, to downright anger—because the FACE Act made it a federal crime to block access (or entrance) to an abortion facility. It was President Bill Clinton’s response to the highly successful Rescue Movement.
The teenage mom smiled at me waving her ultrasound photo and said, “Dan! My baby is beautiful! We ain’t gonna’ get the abortion! But, Dan, I’m not going to give you your sweatshirt back. I’m going to make a pillow out of it for my baby. I’m going to tell her how you saved her life every time she goes to sleep.”
