In 1992, almost 20 years after Roe v. Wade, a new statewide legislative and educational pro-life organization was formed in Wisconsin. The vision for this new organization was shared by dedicated and experienced pro-lifers who realized that the pro-life movement needed to refocus on principle to achieve total protection for all preborn children.

Pro-Life Wisconsin is that organization.

Founded on the bedrock principle of the pro-life movement – that all preborn babies are "persons" and all innocent persons share the inalienable right to life – Pro-Life Wisconsin educates the public and lobbies elected officials. Believing that "it is never the will of the Father in heaven that one of these little ones should be lost" (Matthew 18:14), Pro-Life Wisconsin is a Christian organization relying on God to change hearts and minds toward His most precious creation of human life.

As a legislative and educational organization, Pro-Life Wisconsin is continually working to bring us closer to the day when all babies in Wisconsin (no matter how they were conceived, what stage of development they are at, or whether or not they are in perfect health) are protected in every community in our state.

Through advocacy at the State Capitol in Madison, we urge our elected officials to ban abortion without exceptions for rape, incest, or the life and health of the mother. We advocate passage of a state constitutional amendment to establish the legal personhood of every preborn child from fertilization. We defend the conscience rights of medical professionals who refuse to prescribe or dispense abortifacient drugs or devices, and we work to stop all efforts to legalize euthanasia, assisted suicide and infanticide.

PLW's True to Life media campaign and Speakers Bureau educate the public on a variety of pro-life issues. In communities throughout our state, Pro-Life Wisconsin's local affiliates change hearts and minds by spreading the Gospel of Life. By educating friends and neighbors about the connection between contraception and abortion, our affiliates help build strong families thereby reducing sexual promiscuity, unplanned pregnancies, and chemical and surgical abortions.

You may be wondering: How is Pro-Life Wisconsin different from other pro-life organizations in Wisconsin? Good question! Read on for a brief summary of what makes us unique, or download our full differences letter on the right to learn more.

Personhood is a legal concept that recognizes that human beings have rights under the law. Slavery was once legal in the U.S. because slaves were denied legal personhood. But did you know that some humans are still denied personhood in America? That's right, preborn children are not considered legal "persons" under the law, and they have no legal rights as a result.

Our goal is to amend the Wisconsin Constitution to recognize the preborn child as a legal person, fully protected under Wisconsin law.

Exceptions for Abortion

Pro-Life Wisconsin believes every life matters, and we will never exclude any human being from protection by allowing or promoting abortion exceptions. We oppose direct, intentional abortion in all cases. Put another away, Pro-Life Wisconsin doesn't support legislation that undermines the personhood of the preborn child by explicitly including exceptions for rape, incest, disability, or perceived threat to the mother's health or life.

Pro-Life Wisconsin celebrates the beauty and true purpose of human sexuality. We believe artificial birth control thwarts this purpose, and as a result, we oppose all artificial forms of it.

Rooted in Faith

Pro-Life Wisconsin is proud to be a Christian organization! We recognize the pro-life battle is a spiritual one and ultimately dependent upon God for victory. Our faith is at the center of everything we do.

Our team is made up of passionate individuals working across disciplines to build a strong culture of life in our state.

Here are a few of our many projects around the state.

True to Life Media

True to Life began in 2004 when Pro-Life Wisconsin delivered pro-life radio messages to over 70 radio stations across the state. Now, True to Life encompasses not only radio, but print ads, billboards, earned media, social media and television ads. From beginning of life to end of life…

Speaker's Bureau

Where’s the excitement?

At PLW, one of the biggest obstacles we hear from activists across the state is the apathy of their church, their youth group or even of their local pro-life organizations. We’re constantly being asked, "How do we get people involved?"

Scheduling a presentation from one of…

Medical Decision Making

Pro-Life Wisconsin’s Protective Power of Attorney for Health Care

Pro-Life Wisconsin has been steadfast in opposing euthanasia, whether masquerading as “death with dignity” or the so-called “right to die.” Because it permits euthanasia by omission, we are adamant in opposing the Wisconsin Living Will (Directive to Physicians). The Living…

March for Life

Pro-Life Wisconsin marks January 22, the anniversary of the Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade, in many ways: through affiliate events, prayer and a presence in Washington, D.C.

This annual four-day pilgrimage to Washington, D.C., to pray, march and be a vocal majority for life is an inspiring…

Sidewalk Counselor Training

In 2011, Pro-Life Wisconsin developed a sidewalk counselor training curriculum and went on the road teaching hundreds of new counselors at a dozen sessions in five Wisconsin communities. Each training session featured a panel of two to six expert panelists including 40 Days for Life leaders in Madison…

Vigils and Rallies

There's no more effective way to stop abortion than to be there, praying in front of the sites where it takes place. There's also no more powerful way to combat evil than by taking it to prayer.

That's why Pro-Life Wisconsin hosts prayer vigils and pro-life rallies all over…

Pro-Life Prayer Campaign

Pro-Life Wisconsin believes in the power of prayer. No one should underestimate the power we hold when we come together to pray for an end to abortion and all crimes against human life.

To further this effort, PLW produced Pro-Life Prayer Cards and distributed them across the state. Today…
